Coffee

Creating a large annoying mess
just in the morning, I'm still bleary
struggling with a new french press
not a good choice when weary.

When the coffee is made, I'm not sure...
(there's a reason all this came to be)
maybe I just don't like it that pure...
A new brewer -- broken -- from GE.

Morning 6

Upstairs I believe my daughter's
reading one of Harry Potter's
overplotted chronicles;
a magic kid with luck.

In the kitchen coffee's hot --
I need it 'cause my brain is not.
But the dog says
"don't you dare; just take me for a walk."

The sun is almost up; the light
is starting to reveal a sight
of snow that that coated everything;
it happened overnight.

Another day in winter (mid),
another day of school for kids,
another slightly comic rhyme,
Oh, and work (if there is time).

Morning 5

"Wake me up at six," said she,
"There are places where I have to be
Bagles to eat and tea to sip
Friends to chat and class to skip!"

She gasped and winced and although proud
asked with chagrin "was that out loud?"
"I really get to class on time;
I just said that for the rhyme."

"I don't know why; I merely slipped;
I do not want my new wings clipped!"
The frowning displeased parent folks
just shook their heads and grumbled "jokes".

"We're getting sick of constant tricks
and yes, we'll see you're up at six."

Morning 5

Time to get up for school said Dad
Lateness would be very bad
So open your eyes
And what is more
Swing your feet down
To the floor.

But the girl just rolled a bit in bed,
Pulled green blanket over head,
Dreaming that away Dad sped.

Morning 4

"Out of bed" is what I said,
I might as well just beat my head
against the wall beside the bed
In the morning she's made of lead
And often claims that she is dead
But this idea is too incred
ible for me to buy -- instead
I climb with clomping noisy tread
To repeat what I already said!
