Gas Tax Holiday

I woke up amazed one day;
it was a gas tax holiday!
I filled my tank but to my dismay
they'd raised the price I had to pay.
though I thought they'd take something off it,
now all my cash goes straight to profit.

Fine and Upstanding

My character, morals, resistance to vices:
perhaps they're all based on comparative prices;
I've known for ten years that I should use less gas
but at three bucks per gallon it now comes to pass.

Oil

Oil, I guess, is what I must like;
I buy all I can and I burn it up fast,
It powers my things, except for my bike,
and I do all I can to make sure it won't last.
