Building Gadgets

The work must be managed
the effort directed
activities planned
and output inspected

aspects of products
must all be approved
by a board in a meeting
who feel they're imbued

with the best of all sight
from position elevated
their importance is proved
their lackings abated

and the board wracks their brains
to ensure folks will buy it
(the product that is)
but of course they don't try it.

It's better I guess
to predict from your thoughts
how gadgets should function
and how they should not

So they sit in their room
on their chairs and their hands
and predict and explain
and feel themselves grand

they do all that they can,
but of course no hands-on,
and they husband their power
'til they find their jobs gone

for one day
to their unexpected surprise
their company failed
at the hands of some guys

who minimized meetings;
their ideas were unfettered
that's how they made gadgets
that people liked better
