Winter

In late November and December,
autumn leaves still on the trees,
pumpkin harvest's yet remembered,
a bit of snow provokes Yippees!

By January novelty eases
falling snow no longer pleases,
we're preoccupied with sneezes
and another storm prompts "jeezes".

February? Nearly panic.
Weary now of constant cold
grumpiness becomes endemic;
winter's really getting old.

We're nearly at the tunnel's end
in March we fondly hope
that days toward spring will start to tend.
We usually find out: nope.
